ENTER THE DOUBLE WORLD OF FASHION – PAINTING

Quite coincidentally, to introduce the Spring-Summer 2014 collection, many fashion houses turned the show space into a giant gallery, using art to honor fashion (or vice versa?).

If before, designers urged us to spend tens of millions of dong to buy an item of their design, simply because it was a work of art, then in this season, truly anyone who dares to spend money can.

Céline + Sonia Delaunay

The strong color streaks on Phoebe Philo’s design are reminiscent of the paintings of Sonia Delaunay, a talented Jewish-French female artist (1885-1979) who stands out with her use of color and geometric shapes.

Prada + Jeanne Detallante

Artist Jeanne Detallante’s work is part of the Prada brand’s `In the Heart of the Multitude` project (starting September 2013), collaborating with many mural artists.

Miuccia Prada used the portrait painted by Jeanne as a pattern covering the outfits and cleverly made the removable bra with gold jewelry look like a crown placed on the girl’s head.
